Kenya has recorded 531 new COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 8,154 tested in the last 24 hours, marking a positivity rate of 6.5%.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry of Health said the total confirmed positive cases now stand at 185,591 while cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,978,155.
“From the cases 515 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners. 274 are males and 257 females. The youngest is a one-year-old while the oldest is 93 years,” reads the statement.
The 531 cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi 185, Uasin Gishu 43, Busia 38, Kiambu 30, Siaya 28, Kilifi 28, Nakuru 28, Kisumu 24, Migori 20, Kakamega 14, Nyamira 12, Kericho 12, Noma Bay 9, Kajiado 6, Laikipia 5, Vihiga 5, Kisii 4, Kwale 4, Taita Taveta 4, Nyandarua 4, Murang’a 4, Baringo 3, Kitui 3, Machakos 3, Meru 3, Turkana 3, Bomet 2, Bungoma 2, Kirinyaga 1, Mombasa 1, Narok 1, Nyeri 1 and West Pokot 1.
The Ministry further stated that 20 more patients are reported to have succumbed to the disease all of them being late deaths confirmed after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the months of June and July 2021. The cumulative fatalities now stand at 3,671.
Meanwhile, 276 patients have recovered from the disease, 151 are from the Home Based and Isolation Care program while 125 from various health facilities countrywide. Total recoveries now stand at 126,956 out of whom 91,701 are from Home Based Care and Isolation program, while 35,255 are from various health facilities countrywide.
According to the Health Ministry, a total of 1,144 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,785 patients are under Home Based Isolation and Care program.
Some 124 patients are in the ICU, 39 of whom are on ventilatory support and 51 on supplemental oxygen while 34 patients are under observation.
“Another 152 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 137 of than in general wards and 15 in HDU,” said the Ministry.
On the ongoing vaccination exercise, a total of 1,468,908 vaccines have so far been administered across the country. Of these, total first doses are 1,016,190 while second doses are 452,718.
