Basata Talking About Beef With Tanzanian Artistes

Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana today presented the Estimates of Income and Expenditure of the Ministry for the year 2023/24 in the Parliament of Dodoma where one of the things he said in his speech is that BASATA has not rushed to lock up Artists as it was before.

“The government through BASATA has continued to promote creativity and the production of good art with the aim of empowering artists to be creative and create better works of art, BASATA continued with operational and institutional reforms to become more of an enabler of art activities instead of controlling”

“Therefore, BASATA has participated in coordinating the resolution of artists’ disputes regarding the contracts they entered into, where in the period from July, 2022 to April, 2023, more than five major disputes have been resolved, BASATA has been calling artists not only when they are in short supply, but even when they are doing well and to congratulate them”

“Along with this step, BASATA has continued not to rush to lock up artists as it was before, but when there are extreme ethical challenges, as instructed by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, during the Night Concert of Artist Joseph Mbilinyi”

“BASATA has continued to give the Tanzanian Music Awards (TMA) for the second time in a row, the Festival of giving these Awards was held in Dar es Salaam on April 29, 2023, involving the giving of special Awards given to Four Institutions which are UDSM, College of Arts and Culture Bagamoyo, Clouds Media Group and Sauti za Busara, Zanzibar”
