Death of Raila Odinga’s Bodyguard George Oduor

George Oduor, the longtime personal bodyguard and aide to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 2, 2025, at Nairobi West Hospital after a brief illness.

Oduor began his service with the Odinga family in the late 1980s, initially providing security to Raila’s father, Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. Following Mzee Odinga’s passing in 1994, Oduor continued as Raila Odinga’s personal bodyguard, maintaining this role for over three decades.

His dedication earned him recognition and affection from many, including Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, who described him as a mentor and expressed deep sorrow over his passing.

Similarly, ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale mourned Oduor as a steadfast friend who always stood by him.

Oduor’s commitment to the Odinga family and his professionalism left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

His passing is mourned by many, and condolences have poured in from various quarters, reflecting the profound impact he had throughout his life
