DRAKE READIES ‘CERTIFIED LOVERBOY’ FOR JANUARY

Fans will have to wait until next year for Drake’s album.

In honour of his 34th birthday on Saturday, October’s Very Own shared a trailer announcing a January 2021 release date for his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy.

The minute-long clip finds him recreating the artwork for three of his projects including Take Care, Nothing Was the Same, and his most recent mixtape, Dark Lane Demo Tapes.

In the end, the camera pans to an aerial shot of the Certified Lover Boy logo on top of an arena before revealing the January 2021 date.

The announcement may be disappointing to some fans who were hoping that the follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion would drop this year. Back in May, Drake said that his sixth studio album would arrive in the summer.

“He’s gon’ pull the trigger when he wants to pull it,” his longtime producer Noah “40” Shebib recently told Kevin Durant. “Whether or not he thinks he’s ready or not, he’s always ready. If he had to drop the album tomorrow, he drops it tomorrow.”

In August, Drake released his single “Laugh Now Cry Later” with Lil Durk, which is currently No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
