Talks between Everton and Porto for the transfer of Colombian winger Luis Diaz have reportedly collapsed on deadline day.
Rafael Benitez, who was appointed as manager at Goodison Park in the summer, was said to be keen to bring in the 24-year-old after he hit four goals in five appearances at this summer’s Copa America.
Such a move would have followed the arrivals of Demarai Gray from Bayer Leverkusen and Andros Townsend from Crystal Palace, with the Spanish manager reportedly prioritizing adding talent in the wide areas to his ranks.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, talks between the Toffees and Porto have broken down, with no way of finding a solution in the remaining hours of the transfer window.
While a swap deal involving Diaz’s compatriot James Rodriguez was reportedly tabled, there is now said to be no chance of an agreement between the two clubs before the deadline.
