KQ SUSPENDS PASSENGER FLIGHTS BETWEEN KENYA AND UK

Kenya Airways (KQ) has suspended passenger flights between Kenya and the United Kingdom (UK) effective April 9, 2021 until further notice amid a diplomatic row.

KQ, in a statement released on Monday, said the suspension is in line with the directive issued by the government of Kenya suspending all flights from the UK effective midnight April 9.

The airline has now however added two new flights to the UK on April 7 and April 8 due to increased demand for travel before the advisory comes into effect.

“We sincerely apologise to all our customers for the inconvenience. Customers impacted by this directive may change their bookings for later travel or request a refund with all penalties waived. All tickets must be utilised before 31st March 2022,” read the statement.

The UK recently added Kenya to its red list, thereby banning people traveling from the country from entering England starting April 9 over reports of new COVID-19 variants.

The UK government, in a statement posted on its website on Friday, said: “From 4am on Friday 9 April, international visitors who have departed from or transited through Philippines, Pakistan, Kenya and Bangladesh in the previous 10 days will be refused entry into England.
