New York Now Has Its First Female Governor, Leaving Just 19 States That Haven’t Had One

Kathy Hochul became the first female governor in New York state history when she was sworn in just after midnight.

The Democrat is one of nine women governors currently serving in the US. With the addition of New York, 31 states have now had a woman governor.
