POLICE OFFICER SHOT DEAD IN HIS CAR IN NAKURU COUNTY

A police officer was on Monday morning found shot dead inside his car in Nakuru County.

According to a report seen by Citizen Digital, an officer walking at the car park of Kasarani police line of Nakuru Police Station found the car with the driver’s window shattered and the engine running.

Upon looking inside, the officer saw the owner of the car – Police Constable John Ogweno – lying on the car seat with blood oozing from his nose.

Police officers led by the Nakuru OCS visited the scene and confirmed that the officer had indeed passed on.

They suspect that he was shot on the right side of the head and bled to death, as one empty cartridge of 9 mm was recovered at the scene.

The stone used to smash the car window and an iron bar were also recovered and treated as exhibits, while the firearm issued to the deceased was discovered missing.

The scene has since been documented and efforts are in progress to trace and recover the officer’s firearm as investigations commence.
