Raila Odinga: Kuna Mlima Kweli Inashinda Tinga Kupanda?

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Saturday took his campaign to Nyandarua County to push his agenda ahead of next year’s General Elections.

Addressing residents at Soko Mjinga flyover, Odinga taunted those opposed to his bid saying based on the gathering, it was clear the people of Mt. Kenya are behind him, contrary to their claims.

“Nani alisema siwezi kupanda mlima kenya?” Odinga asked.

He continued to reference his nickname ‘Tinga’, which in English translates to ‘tractor’, citing that the vehicle can move anywhere without any hassle.

“Si mnajua mimi ni tinga? Kuna mlima kweli inashinda tinga kupanda?” He posed to the crowd.

The former premier was referring to statements made by Deputy President William Ruto and his allies in recent months alleging that the ‘hustler movement’ has already conquered Mt. Kenya.

He maintained his social welfare plan that, if elected, his government would offer a Ksh.6,000 monthly stipend to lowly households; an idea that has been heavily criticised by the DP’s camp.

“Wezi wanalalamika…mimi najua mahali pesa itapatikana,” the ODM leader said.

He also added that his government will put an end to the corruption menace that is currently plaguing the country.

“Nitaziba mifereji ya wizi wa pesa,” he stated.

Odinga was accompanied by a host of leaders from Mt. Kenya among them were governors Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua), Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru), James Nyoro (Kiambu) and Ndiritu Mureithi (Laikipia).

His procession passed through Kwa Haraka, Wanjohi, Miharati, Mawingu, Ndunyu Njeru and Njabini areas where he also addressed residents.
