Residents of Marewa village in Murang’a County are yet to come to terms with the death of a couple whose bodies were found in their house.
It is believed that the man killed his lover before taking his own life.
The bodies of 39-year-old Francis Mwangi and his partner Teressiah Mumbi were found in a house where they lived together.
According to those neighbours, the two had constant quarrels that sometimes turned into physical fights
The bodies of the two were taken to Murang’a hospital mortuary as investigations into the matter kicked off.
According to Nancy Wanjiku- a neighbour to the deceased- they found blood on the door on Monday morning and when they peeped through the window, they saw Mumbi lying on the floor.
“Tulikuta damu kwa mlango, tukaangalia gate, tukaona kuna damu. Tukachungukia kwa dirisha ndio tulikuta huyo mama amelala. Hawakuwa wakiishi vizuri, walikuwa na vita hapa na pale,” she told Citizen TV
Mwangi’s father said he was not aware of what led up to the deaths and claimed that his late son was previously married to a different woman.
According to Mumbi’s uncle, the family was not aware of a marital union between the two and claimed that she had been married to another man.
“Hii kuoana kwao Mimi sijui, sababu huyi msichana vile najua alikuwa ameolewa na mtu mwingine huyu ni kuchukuana tu walee watoto,” Mumbi’s uncle Magochi Mwangi said.
