Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i is reportedly planning a significant homecoming event upon his return to Kenya in May 2025. Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka confirmed that preparations are underway, with supporters organizing a grand reception for Matiang’i, including a nationwide grassroots engagement tour post-arrival.
In the lead-up to his return, various committees have been established across major cities such as Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyeri, Mombasa, and Wajir to mobilize support. The reception is expected to feature a grand welcome at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a procession through Nairobi’s Central Business District, and a major rally. Additionally, parties from Kisii and Nyamira counties have formed the Taifa Alliance to consolidate support for Matiang’i’s candidacy.
