- The Ministry of Health on Saturday announced that 61 people contracted COVID-19 from a sample size of 5,525 tested in the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate is now at 1.1%, with total confirmed positive cases rising to 254,276 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,767,353.
From the cases, 57 are Kenyans while four are foreigners; 36 are males and 25 are females, while the youngest is a 12-year-old child and the oldest is 93 years.
The cases were distributed across various counties namely: Nairobi 9, Isilo 7, Busia 6, Kilifi 4, Kisii 4, Nakuru 4, Mombasa 3, Bomet 3, Embu 3, Machakos 2, Garissa 2, Marsabit 2, Baringo 2, Kiambu 1, Kwale 1, Makueni 1, Nyeri 1 Kakamega 1, Kericho 1, Kisumu 1, Migori 1 and Kajiado 1 and Kitui 1,
The ministry also said 59 patients recovered from the disease, with 43 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 16 were discharged from health facilities countrywide. Total recoveries rose to 247,633.
No death was reported so the cumulative fatalities still remain at 5,316.
“A total of 390 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,038 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program,” read the statement signed by Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.
“27 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.”
The statement added: “Another 112 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 110 of them are in the general wards. One patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).”
CS Kagwe further stated that a total of 5,974,566 vaccines had so far been administered across the country as of November 12, 2021.
Of these, 3,880,224 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2,094,342. The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 50.5%. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 7.7%.
Nairobi County is leading in proportion of people above 18 years who have received the first dose with 35.1% followed by Nyeri at 30.7%, Kirinyaga at 23.1%, Laikipia 22.5% and Kiambu 21.3%..
