A man has been sentenced to six months imprisonment for damaging his mother’s TV sets at their home in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
Ronald Kipkemboi was charged with illegally damaging two TV sets, a 55-inch Haier and a
28-inch Sony Bravia, at Langata’s Camp David estate after getting into an argument with his mom.
He pleaded guilty to charges of malicious damage to property before Kibera Resident Magistrate William Tulei.
According to police reports, on the day in question, Kipkemboi got into a squabble with his mother after she decided to pay a boda boda operator, who had dropped him off at their house, by using M-PESA instead of cash.
On seeing this, Kipkemboi stated that his family did not love him and he proceeded to
vandalise the two TV sets which were located in the sitting room and the mom’s bedroom.
Kipkemboi’s mother quickly reported the incident to Lang’ata police station and the culprit was arrested soon after.
The TV sets were presented in court to be used as evidence.
