Tanzanian singer and medical doctor Jimmy Chansa say he was in love with Vera Sidika for her personality and not her public life.
Chansa gained fame after coming out as Vera Sidika’s boyfriend and the two would flaunt each other as they posted photos with matching outfits.
Asked why he loved Sidika, he said;
“I never loved a socialite. I loved an ordinary person. They (fans) saw her as a socialite but I saw her as a normal person. I was not a fan, I was her boyfriend.”
“Love is just love. You can love a person with a big name or no name at all.”
Asked why he hasn’t had another public relationship, he said;
“In life, you can’t control everything.”
He went on to say that he couldn’t reveal why the relationship ended.
“That’s personal. Fans are not fans of my relationships. If I start talking about my love life, then I should start with my very first relationship. It was good when it lasted. It now has no meaning.”
Sidika is now expecting her first child with singer Brown Mauzo.
