National transport and safety authority (NTSA) is the sole manufacturer of number plates through the prisons department.
It distributes the same via the container freight stations (CFS) in Nairobi and Mombasa.
Apparently, NTSA has announced that there are no number plates available for distribution in Kenya.
NTSA says that the reason why there is the number of plates is currently low is because of the high numbers of cars being imported.
NTSA has therefore advised all importers to submit logbooks for the cars to be released without physical plates.
Same NTSA sends out logbooks after 3 weeks after registration.
Those who are conversant with the port operations can attest demurrage is real 14 days after the arrival of motor vehicles.
This is a one-way business hurts in Kenya. If you have a unit at the port, be warned that there are no number plates.
