University Of Kabianga Closed Indefinitely After Students Protest Fee Increment

The University of Kabianga in Belgut, Kericho County, has been closed indefinitely after students took to the streets to protest the fee increment.

In an internal memo which was signed by the university Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academics and Student Affairs, Prof. Elijah Omwenga, the decision to close the institution was arrived at on Monday after a council special meeting.

The groups affected by the closure are 2nd year students (2020/2021), 3rd-year students (2019/2020), 3rd-year students (2018/2019) and 4th-year students (2017/2018).

The students were ordered to vacate the university premises immediately.
