Kim Kardashian is moving forward with her divorce.
A day after Kanye West pleaded to save his marriage during his concert with Drake, the beauty mogul filed legal documents to officially declare her as single. On Friday, Kim asked a court to separate issues of child custody and property from marital status. According to TMZ, she is also seeking to drop “West” from her last name and restore her maiden name.
If signed off by a judge, it would allow her to move on with her life and settle other divorce issues at a later time.
Kim’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, has made similar moves with other celebrity clients, including Dr. Dre and Kelly Clarkson, separating marital status from other issues.
Just hours before Kim made the petition, Kanye publicly pleaded for his wife to come back during his “Free Larry Hoover” show with Drake at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum on Thursday night. While performing “Runaway,” he added an impromptu freestyle: “Run back to me … More specifically, Kimberly.”

Kim was in attendance at the concert, along with their kids North and Saint. Prior to that, they both attended Virgil Abloh’s final Louis Vuitton show as well as the late designer’s memorial service.
This is not the first time Kanye has pleaded for Kim to come back. On Thanksgiving, he spoke about wanting to keep his family together during the L.A. Mission’s Thanksgiving event on Skid Row.
“In all these relationships, we’ve made mistakes. I’ve made mistakes,” he said. “I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable as a husband, but right now today, for whatever reason-I didn’t know I was going to be standing right here in front of this mic-but I’m here to change that narrative.”
“I have to be next to my children as much as possible,” added Ye. “I’m trying to express this in the most sane way, the most calm way possible, but I need to be back home.”
Despite his pleas, the divorce has been proceeding. In October, Kim bought the couple’s $60 million Hidden Hills home where the couple’s four kids have lived since she filed for divorce in February. Kim agreed to pay Ye $23 million to even out the property’s value.
