Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi is set to sign for US club Inter Miami.
His departure from French side Paris St-Germain was confirmed earlier this month.
The World Cup winner, who has been named the world’s best player seven times, will play outside of Europe for the first time in his career – joining a side co-owned by David Beckham.
Messi spent 21 years at Barcelona, joining at the age of 13. He later moved to PSG in 2021.
It is understood he wanted to remain in Europe for another season but, after no satisfactory offers were received, he had the choice between moving to America or taking a more lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian side – where Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo plays.
