President William Ruto’s Tour of Mt. Kenya Region For Five-Day

President William Ruto is set to embark on a five-day tour of the Mt. Kenya region starting Tuesday, April 1, 2025. This marks his first visit since August 2024 and aims to commission completed projects, inspect ongoing ones, and launch new initiatives across nine counties: Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Kiambu.

Key Projects and Activities:

  • Infrastructure: The President will inspect and commission various road projects, including the Mau Mau Road in Lari Constituency, Kiambu County.

  • Affordable Housing: He is expected to launch new affordable housing projects in several counties, part of his broader development agenda.

  • Fresh Produce Markets: Visits to modern fresh produce markets at various stages of completion are planned, aiming to provide small-scale traders with adequate space and sanitation.

  • County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs): The President will inspect the ongoing construction of CAIPs across the nine counties, with joint investments from national and county governments.Title Deeds Distribution: He will issue title deeds in Kieni (Nyeri) and Tigania West (Meru) constituencies, promoting land ownership and security.

  • Water and Sanitation Projects: The tour includes inspecting ongoing water, sanitation, and sewerage programs in Meru, Murang’a, and Embu counties.

  • Livestock Development: Visits to livestock feedlots in Tigania West and South Imenti (Meru County) are scheduled to boost the livestock value chain.

  • Healthcare Facilities: The President will tour the JM Memorial Hospital in Ol Kalou (Nyandarua County), aiming to enhance healthcare infrastructure.

This tour is strategically significant, as it comes amid political tensions following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. The region, which was pivotal in Ruto’s 2022 election victory, has seen shifts in political allegiance, with some leaders expressing dissent.

Local leaders have called for a peaceful reception during the President’s visit, emphasizing unity and development over divisive politics
