Contribution For Afghanistan

The United Nations will hold a fundraising conference today in Geneva for its efforts to raise more than $ 600 million for Afghanistan.

The conference will be attended by senior UN officials including Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.

Even before the Taliban invaded Kabul last month, half of Afghanistan’s population or 18 million people were dependent on aid, the United Nations warns that the number is likely to increase due to drought and financial and food insecurity.

Many foreign powers have suspended financial aid to Afghanistan following the Taliban’s takeover, which has put a lot of pressure on the United Nations.
