Kenya has recorded 1018 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country’s total caseload rises to 51,851.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 28, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 6,649 samples had been tested over the same period bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 627,771.
Of the positive cases, 689 were Kenyans while 29 were foreigners.

657 were male and 361 were female while the youngest case was a nine-month-old infant and the oldest is aged 96 years.
At the same time, 426 patients were discharged, 312 from the home-based care program and 114 from the hospital around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 35,258.
Regrettably, 16 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 950.
Currently, there are 1060 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 4,230 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
36 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 18 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplementary oxygen.
45 patients are on supplementary oxygen, 22 of whom are in general wards and 23 are in High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The distribution of cases in counties is as follows; Nairobi 199, Mombasa 117, Kiambu 102, Kericho 73, Nakuru 67, Bungoma 66, Uasin-Gishu 55, Kisumu 50, Kilifi 40, Kisii 30, Bomet 18, Siaya 18, Nyeri 16, West Pokot 16, Meru 14, Isiolo 14, Machakos 12, Murang’a 10, Nandi 10, Laikipia 9, Kajiado 9, Garissa 9, Busia 8, Tharaka-Nithi 6, Nyamira 6, Kirinyaga 5, Vihiga 5, Samburu 5, Kakamega 4, Kwale 4, Trans Nzoia 3, Baringo 3, Wajir 3, Turkana 2, Narok 2, Nyandarua 2, Taita Taveta 2, Tana River 2 and Migori 1.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has since convened a crisis meeting in light of the resurgence of Covid-19 infections across the country, as exhibited by the fact that Kenya has recorded its highest number of Covid-19 monthly fatalities in October 2020 at 223.
