Comedian Eddie Butita has shared details on how he bagged a job as a writer and director for Netflix.
In an interview on Bonga na Jalas, Butita said that the deal got him by surprise.
“I was just relaxing at Thika road, then I got a phone call from someone. He told me he is calling from Hiventy Africa, he has a job for me,” he shared.
With the sudden turn of events, the comedian did not take the deal so seriously.
The Hiventy Africa group did not also want to share all the details about the project before having Butita on board.
“We sat down, they talked to me but I did not take it seriously. They did not tell me full details until I showed interest.”
The comedian revealed that he started working on the project secretly, and none of his close friends and family knew about it.
Not even his girlfriend Mammito.
“I wondered how easy it was. In Africa, we are used to hunting for something for like a month. I did not tell people close to me. Everyone knew the day that I announced on social media,” he said.
Currently, Butita is working on the UpShaws, a comedy show that airs on Netflix.
