Eggs Used As Payment For Maize Milling Due To Covid-19 Strains In Busia.

The corona pandemic has brought about many struggles. People have lost their jobs, marriages have fallen apart among many other cases.

In Siritanya village, locals have expressed their financial strains. Majority of them are unable to afford ksh.10 for posho mill. They have now embraced barter trade. The owners of the posho mills are baring with the locals; and receiving eggs as payment in kind to maize milling.

According to the maize millers, every 2kgs of maize cost ksh. 10. Since eggs have been proven easy to find, every 2kgs is equivalent to one egg. Therefore, the number of eggs that one must have should be equal to the number of kilograms of maize.
