Despite their 1-0 defeat at home at the hands of Arsenal, it cannot be denied that Manchester United have managed to steady the ship after a terrible start to their season. But a few more bad results and they could find themselves back in the same situation.
In many ways, that describes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time as manager. It has been a stop and starts to reign. One second they look like world-beaters and the very next they look like a team completely incapable of keeping up with any good Premier League side.
And while Solskjaer’s side has always performed best when he looks on the verge of getting the sack, there has never been the feeling that he is a long-term solution to the club’s managerial problems since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. Someone like Mauricio Pochettino could be that guy.
The Argentine has been linked with the Red Devils for a long time now and while speaking on Sky Sports, he admitted that he is ready to return to management now after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur almost a year ago:
“I was always ready to be involved in the game again. I love football. It’s my passion, not my job.
