President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday dismissed the appointment of former Law Society of Kenya president Allen Gichuhi into the Industrial Property Court.
A notice by the Kenyan Gazette dated October 29 confirmed the dismissal through the Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization, Trade and Business Development, Betty Maina.
“In the exercise of the powers conferred by Article 113 (1) and (2) of the Industrial Property Law, as read in conjunction with Article 51 of the Interpretation Law and General Provisions, the Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development revokes the appointment of Allen Gichuhi as President of the Industrial Property Court, ”the Gazette said.
In what seemed like an early exit for the Industrial Property Court boss since his assumption of office in September 2021, CS Maina did not state any reasons for the action.
Gichuhi served as the LSK president from March 2018 to March 2020 before Nelson HavI took over the office.
Gichuhi was expected to serve for three years in the Industrial Property Court role
