RAILA ODINGA: THER WILL BE OPPORTUNITIES TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION IN THE FUTURE

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has told critics of Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) amendment Bill that there will be another opportunity to amend the 2010 constitution.

According to Raila, the ongoing process to change the constitution is a harbinger of other future amendments, telling critics that there will be a time in the future to change the document further.

Odinga says the constitution-making process is a perpetual one, saying that not all proposals have been included in the bill at a go.

He accused critics of the bill of employing delay tactics to throw the process into untold delays.

Speaking at the ACK Cathedral church in Kisumu on Sunday, Odinga dared those opposing the process to wait for the referendum and vote against it as it is within their right to do so.

He also hit out at a section of the churches in Kenya who have been throwing a barrage of demands for inclusion with an intention of delaying the process.

He says the BBI process has been on for two years and the church has had equal opportunity to present their views.

The ODM leader also announced that President Uhuru Kenyatta government is currently working on a post-COVID economy recovery plan.

His statement appeared to water down critics of the process who have been advising the government to channel efforts towards COVID-19
