K24 news anchor Mungala Mbuvi is mourning the death of a colleague.
He said that their colleague, Naomi Wanjiku Njenga, passed on suddenly. In his tribute, he narrated how Shikoh made his first day in K24 memorable.
“It was a Thursday morning around 6:30 sometime in the last quarter of 2018 when I received a call from an unknown number. I usually answer every call (mimi hua siogopi kushika simu juu sina madeni 😂😅)
The lady on the other side asks me, “Mbuvi umefika wapi?” See, I was sitting in for @shikokaittany at K24 who had taken her maternity leave (aki mimba wewe).
Anyway I was running late and I was stuck in traffic. So Naomi (lady in pic), the assistant producer for #K24alfajiri wanted to know my ETA. I told her I was a few minutes away.
When I got to the gate, I found her waiting for me with a lapel microphone, earpiece, and a talkback. She put them on me and asked me to rush into studio as she parked my car.
After my 30mins on air, I found her with my coffee, a banana, and 2 cookies waiting for me in the lounge.
That was my intro to K24 TV and literally my intro to TV life.” Mungala narrated.
Adding, “Unbelievable that the kind heart I met that day is no more. Rest in peace @ciku_wa_njenga and may Jehovah welcome you into His Kingdom the same way you welcomed me to yours. Pewa cookies zote, bananas na kahawa ile tamu zaidi!”
Mungala’s co-presenter Shiko Kaittany also paid her tribute.
She wrote, “Awww my sweets. I can’t believe this namesake. I’m gutted by this news. You were such a rock and a blessing to be around. You made my life at the office so much better.
We loved your laugh, your personality, and your energy ❤❤❤ May you continue to shine mama! Rest in peace. I will miss you dearly Naomi Wanjiku Njenga.”
