ROBERT ALAI CHARGED WITH CAUSING GRIEVOUS HARM TO RINGTONE

Blogger Robert Alai has been charged for allegedly assaulting gospel singer Alex Nyanchoga Apoko, popularly known as Ringtone.

Alai was charged on Monday with causing grievous harm to Ringtone following an altercation on July 23 along Cotton Road in Kilimani.

He also faced a second count of malicious damage to property.

According to the charge sheet, Alai willfully and unlawfully damaged the driver’s window and a side step of a Range Rover vehicle belonging to Ringtone with the damage being valued at Ksh.416,524.

He denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.300,000.

On July 23, Alai was arrested and detained at the Kilimani Police Station on allegations of beating Ringtone with a wooden club.

According to officials familiar with the situation, the two accused each other of obstruction in a scuffle that began on Loitoktok Road and spread to Dennis Pritt and Likoni Roads.

Mr. Alai was accused of hitting Ringtone’s car at a roundabout on Loitoktok road.
