Talibani Close In On Kabul

The key eastern city Jalalabad fell under Taliban control (right) without a fight early Sunday morning when the governor surrendered.

This leaves the capital Kabul as the only remaining major Afghan city still under government control (inset map showing control of the country).

Taliban insurgents have captured the northern stronghold of Mazar-i-Sharif, the second-

largest city Kandahar and third-largest city Herat all within the last 48 hours and are now closing in on Kabul.

Americans at the US Embassy in Kabul are now being evacuated from the capital with

Joe Biden increasing the number of troops to 5,000 to help with the process.
