Anti-riot police officers on Saturday lobbed teargas to disperse a rally organized by Ruto allies in Nakuru.
Several videos shared online showed a motorcade believed to have been ferrying a host of politicians to the rally emerging from a cloud of teargas.
More than 10 leaders allied to the second-in-command were expected at the rally to drum up support for the London ward UDA Candidate.
According to reports, a handful of youth who had turned up for the rally pelted anti-riot police officers who were blocking a road leading to Paprigano hotel where the rally was to take place with stones.
Another video shared online showed several leaders among them Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika approaching the police barricade, to ostensibly find out the reason behind it.
The London Ward UDA campaigns later resumed at the party headquarters in Nakuru County.
On Friday, 2022 succession politics took centre stage during the campaigns in Nakuru town attended by DP Ruto allies.
Leaders present implored the Kalenjin community to rally behind the party’s UDA candidate Antony Nzuki Wachira saying his win would be the wind beneath DP Ruto’s presidential aspiration wings.
