TWO PEOPLE DIE AFTER CAR SHOWERED WITH 18 BULLETS IN MACHAKOS

Two people were on Friday killed by unknown gummen on the Nairobi-Machakos highway.

According to Machakos County Commissioner John Ondego, three people in a Honda vitz were cornered by their assailants shortly after leaving the Kyumbi shopping center.

Mr Ondego disclosed that one of the victims is a police officer from Mwala Subcouty.

He claimed that the trio were on their killer’s radar, as evidenced by the fact that their car was blocked as they approached the crime scene.

“One of them is our officer based in Mwala and It seems they were being followed, we really don’t know the reason behind the attack” Ondego said.

Both the driver and his shotgun passenger were killed on the spot. According to police, at least 18 rounds were fired into the car.

A third person in the back seat escaped unharmed.

Bodies of the dead were moved to Machakos Level 5 hospital mortuary while the wreckage has been towed to Machakos police station.

Mr Ondego said that investigations have commenced to unearth the reason behind the incident.

The gunmen disappeared shortly after. No arrests have been made so far.
