Cristiano Ronaldo To Break Premier League Record On His Come Back

Cristiano Ronaldo will break the record for the longest gap between Premier League appearances when he makes his second Manchester United debut against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed during Friday’s pre-match press conference that the Portugal international will make his second debut for the club against the Magpies.

Solskjaer has not revealed whether Ronaldo will start, but the highest international goalscorer of all time will break the record for the longest gap between Premier League outings when he takes to the field.

It has been 12 years and 118 days since his last match in the top flight against Arsenal in May 2009, with the 36-year-old leaving Man United that summer to join Real Madrid.

The attacker has scored 392 goals in 390 league appearances for Real Madrid and Juventus since securing a move away from Old Trafford.

The Portuguese found the back of the net on 118 occasions in 292 outings for Man United between 2003 and 2009, and he has re-signed for the 20-time English champions on an initial two-year contract.
