Two Suspects Arrested With 89 Bales Of Marijuana In Thika

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects found in possession of bhang along Garissa Road in Thika.

The two; Hassan Adan Maalim, 25 and Shedrack Maangi, 35 were nabbed by the DCI’s Special Service Unit with 89 bales of cannabis sativa in a Nairobi-bound lorry labeled Rhino Cement.

According to the DCI, the Special Service Unit was acting on an intelligence report of a criminal syndicate that disguises as builders of the nation.

“Two suspects of trafficking in narcotics; Hassan Adan Maalim, 25 and Shedrack Maangi, 35, were also arrested in the operation. The SSU sleuths were acting on an intelligence report, of a notorious criminal syndicate that guises as serious builders of the nation, while trading in the illegal drug from Wajir using branded vehicles.” DCI said.

The DCI further added that the Anti-Nacortics detectives have taken over the case for further probing.

“Upon interception, search and confiscation of the stowed stockpile, the two occupants and the KBS 601 M Actress lorry were escorted to DCI Headquarters, where the Anti-Nacortics detectives took over the case for further investigations,” said the DCI.

The lorry has since been detained and the rest of the exhibits processed by Crime Scene Investigators, as the two suspects await arraignment.
