You Can Now Post Through Desktop On Instagram

Instagram has finally rolled out the much-awaited feature which lets users post photos and videos from their desktop browsers.

To post a photo or video from a computer, all one needs to do is click the (+) button at the top right-hand panel on the homepage, between the Direct Messages and Explore buttons.

In a series of updates that the Facebook-owned platform rolled in the past week, two users will also be able to share ownership of a single feed post or Reel in a feature dubbed “Collabs”.

Collabs are enabled from the tagging screen, whereby a user will invite another account to collaborate by tagging each other, after which the second account will have to accept the invite.

Once the other user accepts the tag, both usernames will appear as authors in the Reel, and they will also have a shared view count, like count, and comment thread.

Additionally, Instagram has updated Reels with new features; Superbeat, which adds effects to a video to the beat of a song, and 3D lyrics, which displays song lyrics in tune with the melody.

This is seemingly in an effort to compete with the popular video-sharing platform TikTok.

Previously, one could only post to the platform from the mobile app or through third-party desktop platforms like Bluestacks.

Last year, Instagram notably added Direct Messaging to the desktop platform, after being only available on the mobile app since 2010.
