Pastor James Ng’ang’a has hit back at the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) insisting that the TV station he is affiliated with, Sasa TV, does not answer to the authority.
This follows a Thursday decree from the Council which vowed to take action against the TV station for allegedly airing vulgar content on October 9, 2021.
MCK was referring to an incident in which the controversial pastor made comments about his genitals on live TV while discussing how his body should be handled in the event of death.
According to Ng’ang’a, Sasa TV is answerable to the Communications Authority of Kenya and not the MCK as such they should refrain from sending him warnings as it is not in their mandate to do so.
“Nimetumiwa clip ambapo kuna watu wamesema sijui niliongea nini, watu wa media council but as far as I know I am not under the Media Council I am under CCK. We report to CCK and I received the letter from CCK giving me warning so if the other media would like to do that let them go to my address, request what you want then I can send my lawyer to answer you,” Ng’an’ga said.
“I am a preacher not under anybody, my preaching depends on the message I have. If maybe time happen then I can answer that. If you say i said one or two things then go to the dictionary and bring that word. Hiyo nilisema hiyo neno basi enda kwa dictionary uilete kwa Kiswahili na kwa kingereza inamaanisha nini lakini tusisumbuane na maTV,” he said
Ng’an’ga consequently stated that it is too late for individuals to try and intimidate him.
